13.01.22. Birdlog.

An early morning walk in crisp icy conditions with open waters frozen overnight.

The two Green Sandpiper wintering in a flood field close to Hares Lane were waiting for the morning sunshine to thaw enough for them to feed.

My walk took me along Lordship Lane where the field alongside the track had an addition of one more Whooper Swan which brings the herd to 22 birds. The Bewick’s were not present while I was there.

No.6 tank was thawing out by the time I got to view across its waters. A much smaller amount of ducks were obvious by their absence.

I carried along to view across the Weaver Valley and a collective count of 5 European Stonechat and 5 Common Chiffchaff.

Green Sandpipers.
