I made an early start and set up looking across No.6 tank where I managed a count of c840 Eurasian Teal, much lower counts of Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler and Mallard. A small flock of Black-tailed Godwit did their best at locating a spot of shallow water enough for them to settle.
A Black-headed Gull was either retaining or attending a partial hood. Also seen was a Western Marsh Harrier drifting over and several Common Buzzard were about the area.
Walking along Lordship Lane and the wet maize stubble fields produced c40 Chaffinch with 2 Brambling with them, 200 Linnet, 176 European Goldfinch, 3 European Stonechat and both Meadow Pipit and Common Reed Bunting were also noted. The herd of Whooper Swan had shifted their position close to Lordship Lane to behind the blue slurry tank out on Lordship Marsh.
Several flocks of Northern Lapwing, Dunlin and c600 European Golden Plover were high over Frodsham Score.
The ‘splashing pool & ‘phalarope pool’ had a 3 Ruff, a few Black-tailed Godwit, Common Snipe, 16 Gadwall, 143 Eurasian Teal and 87 Northern Shoveler.
