07.11.21. Birdlog.

I took a walk to Marsh Farm this morning before my BTO WeBs count at Ince marsh fields. Numerous Redwing were busy stripping the berries off the hawthorns along Brook Furlong Lane and were joined by several Blackbird and Song Thrush. Further up the way were 4 European Stonechats adjacent to Alder Lane and several Meadow Pipit were moving through.

Onward to Ince where 17 Little Egret and 3 Western Cattle Egret were amongst the pigs with 36 Eurasian Curlew foraging in a field along Kinsey’s Lane.

On the pools were 15 Mallard, 48 Eurasian Teal, 22 Gadwall, 9 Northern Shoveler, 36 Eurasian Coot, 3 Common Moorhen, 2 Grey Heron, 8 Mute Swan, 2 Common Snipe, c70 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Ruff were on the stubble field alongside the Holpool Gutter.

5 of the 7 Great Egrets out on the saltings.

Looking over the salt marsh as the tide made its way over the saltings and 7 Great Egret and numerous Little Egret were busy fishing in the rising water. Also hundreds of Northern Lapwing and European Golden Plover were present.

Male Stonechat.

Walking back to the start of my walk were 4 Lesser Redpoll were with a charm of European Goldfinch.
