A morning walk down to the Weaver Bend produced the 2cy Little Gull still hawking its trade up and down the River Weaver and a singing Lesser Whitethroat on the banks of the I.C.I tank.
Observer: Mark (Whipper) Gibson.
An afternoon walk again along Moorditch Lane and through to the ‘phalarope pool’.
No.6 tank had a reduced flock of Black-tailed Godwit despite the hieght of the tide on the Mersey Estuary. Hiding within their numbers were a couple of Bar-tailed Godwit (same birds from previous visits). There were 8 summer Dunlin, 2 Pied Avocet and a single Common Ringed Plover. Ducks were typically reduced in number with most birds away nesting.
A couple of male Western Marsh Harrier were about the area and the bedraggled Common Buzzard from last evening was sadly dead today.
The fields of the mitigation were rarher quiet with just a couple of Pied Avocet flying about. A dead cow in the ‘phalarope pool’ wasn’t there last evening. I had contact through Idris to the tenant farmer about its location.
Observers: JS & WSM (images).
