An after work walk along Moorditch Lane produced a singing Lesser Whitethroat competing with Common Whitethroat, Blackcap and Common Chiffchaff.

A look over No.6 tank had 121 Tufted Duck, a drake Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Mallard and 14 Mute Swan. Also present were a few Black-tailed Godwit with 5 Dunlin and 2 Pied Avocet.

Further along the track at the ‘phalarope pool’ at the junction of No.3 & No.6 & No.4 tanks where a Wood Sandpiper was edged into the bank by a very territorial Northern Lapwing. A Common Redshank was flying to and fro while a few Gadwall were dabbling. The Wood Sandpiper when I and PR left the site.

A rain cloud rolled over and Common Swift were flying ahead of it.

The spindle bushes along the banks of No.6 tank were covered by the webs of Spindle Ermine moth caterpillars were munching their way through the leaves.
