01.05.19. Birdlog (Frodsham Festival of Walks part 2).

The second segment of the Frodsham Festival of Walks brought out singing Chiffchaff with Blackcap and whitethroat were heard on the way to No.6 tank and 2 Brown Hare were frolicking in the field while several Swallow hawked low over the field.

On No.6 tank had Common Shelduck, Mallard and Northern Shoveler were present alongside 2 Mute Swan with 4 Little Grebe, c40 Black-tailed Godwit feeding on the far bank. A couple of Marsh Harrier were over the reed bed and 2 Avocet were seen on a scrape. The ‘ring tail’ Hen Harrier (per myself & Idris Roberts) made it into the darling month of May and flew from the ‘Splashing Pool’ then over No.6 tank.

26.04.19. Birdlog.

The Chiffchaff were very vocal with Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and both Reed and Sedge Warbler all being present during my evening walk around the River Weaver. A couple of Brown Hare were noted and 8 Avocet were feeding on the far bank.

Goldfinch were tending to their young, while fights were breaking out within the many Common Shelduck, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Gadwall.

A couple of Great Crested Grebe plus many Canada Goose and 10 Mute Swan were on the water.
