I set up position looking north over No.6 tank with a carpet of 500 Black-tailed Godwit (several colour ringed birds noted) covering the shallow waters close by. Hidden deep in their midst were 3 Bar-tailed Godwit, a single Golden Plover was the only bird visible although a flock could be heard overhead, 40 Dunlin and on the periphery a single Little Stint. The Redshank flock were further in cover as was the small number of Ruff viewable. 16 Avocet were gathered close together in deeper water.
All the godwits were spooked by a pair of Marsh Harrier which in turn were sent packing by the Lapwing on site.
35 Sand Martin dropped in to feed over the open water.
Observers: Arthur Harrison, WSM (all images).
This group of godwits included this bird (1): Blue over Lime (above knee on left leg) and Orange flag (possible lettering being P or F or E) over Lime above right knee.

The history of this bird is: Ringed as pullus at Amessysla, Selfos, Southern Iceland on 10.07.15. It was seen again at Caldy on the Wirral on 21.08.15 six weeks later. It then reappeared on 07.11.15 on No.6 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Presumably it wintered on the Mersey and was seen again 16 & 17.05.16. No.6 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Taking a break from Frodsham this bird was seen again at Carr Lane Pools on 18.07.16. Four days later it relocated to Woolston Eyes, Warrington and then back to Carr Lane on 27.08.16 before todays sighting at its favourite site on No.6 tank.
