12.02.16. Starlingsl, No.3 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton (21)

After work walk from Marsh Lane to the mitigation area on No.3 tank taking in No.6 tank on the way.

The Cormorant roost included a mixture of 15 carbo’s and at least 4 ‘sinensis‘. Nearby the Pochard flock had increased on my previous count with 41 birds present and a much reduced count of 21 Tufted Duck, 7 Gadwall, 200 Common Teal and 114 Shoveler.

12.02.16. Starlingsl, No.3 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton (22)

The Starling pre-roost bathe started gathering soon after our arrival overlooking No.3 tank with an estimate of 5,000 birds. Again there was no obvious signs of any raptors which is puzzling and thus no murmurations to speak of.

12.02.16. Short-eared Owl, No.6 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton (7)

A Short-eared Owl was hunting the grassy banks of No.6 tank with the occasional sortie out over the reed beds.
