The River Mersey on a rising tide is rarely a miser when it’s time for a good bird or two and this late morning tide was no exception. Two dark-bellied Brent Goose out on Frodsham Score in the bright sunshine bodes well for the New Year ahead. These were followed by a Little Egret, Peregrine and 12 Whooper Swan.
Over on No.6 tank the Green-winged Teal was again present throwing its head back and strutting its stuff to the limey Teal. The immature Marsh Harrier looks likely to spend Christmas in its rightful place on the marsh. There’s always room in the inn for birds here and none gets turned away.
A Stonechat was along Lordship Lane below the south banks of No.6 tank.
