20.12.15. No.3 tank, frodsham Marsh. Bill MortonThe long staying Shag reported across the river was noted mid river and fell upon the gaze of FD from Marsh Farm, but was lost to sight soon after the observation. A couple of Canada Goose wore orange leg rings and were possibly from Yorkshire. Also from the area two Brent Goose were also noted although not specifically identified to form and a couple of Great White Egret put in an appearance.

A great afternoon along path to the Weaver Bend with 10 Fieldfare up on the top of Hawthorns. At the ‘bend’ 7 Goldeneye (3 males) with 11 Tufted Duck and 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe and 30+ Common Teal. Up onto the farm path and 8 Raven in field were left chasing each other around the willows along the field edge. Looking from the gate across to the River Mersey and 50+ Goldfinch flock, a murmurating Starling flock of 200, a female Kestrel hunting low along restricted track. 500 Lapwing put up by 2 Peregrine leaving the blue-topped chimney at Weston Point.

19.12.15. Green-winged Teal, No.6 tank, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton (5)A productive day got even more productive with the Green-winged Teal staying into its second week. The huge numbers of Common Teal are still present along with the usual Pochard, Shoveler, Tufted Duck and 4 Common Shelduck.

A Short-eared Owl quartered the rough pasture land on No.5 tank at dusk and must have welcomed the blue skies interspersed with showers.
