01.10.15. Weaver Estuary, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton.A ramble along Brook Furlong Lane with the contact calling Chiffchaffs guiding my way down to the River Weaver. Along the Weaver Causeway and a collective gathering of 28 Little Grebe were very impressive with the majority being juvenile birds.

Along the stony edges to the river were 6 Common Snipe, 60 Redshank, a single Ruff and several Black-tailed Godwit (one bearing colour leg rings). A lone Avocet was feeding with bathing Black-headed Gulls mid river on the Weaver Bend.

The tall dried out umbellifer stalks were convenient perches for a couple of migrating Stonechat along the causeway with a third bird out over by Marsh Farm.

Later in the evening and overlooking No.6 tank to watch the current bun hiding below the horizon. I watched the ducks busy settling down to roost or continue their feeding routine. 300 Tufted Duck, 200 Common Teal, 40 Shoveler, Mallard and whistling Wigeon.
