After work I finally got my chance to get down to the marsh following my jollies away over the last two weeks. There was not a soul about except for a sky full of Swifts riding high over the banks of No.6 tank.
The flooded waters of the tank below harboured quite a lot of ducks which included 14 Common Teal, 12 Common Pochard, 34 Mallard, 200 Tufted Duck a few Shelduck and Gadwall. The two Black Swans are continuing to settle here with some Mutes for company.
The mitigation area (above image) for No.3 tank has almost dried out.
The summer Black-tailed Godwit flock easily contained c1000 birds with just 8 Avocet, a Redshank and a couple of Dunlin were also within their midst. The male Marsh Harrier flew over causing a small amount of mayhem and far above on its usual perch was the Peregrine.
