An Avocet shares No.3 with a couple of summer Curlew Sandpipers.
I set up looking over No.6 tank on the way to the wetland area of No.3 tank and a small bevy of 34 Ringed Plover were joined by 23 summer Dunlin and 3 Little Ringed Plover were busily feeding.
Over on No.3 tank and 4 Avocet were busy doing what they need to do at this time of year while the two summer Curlew Sandpiper continue to favour the area here. 2 Ringed Plover and a calling Whimbrel were notable. A very brief and tantalising ‘Quail’ type call had us both wondering but it never repeated itself during the time we were there.
A flock of 400 Common Swift were spiraling over the area and were obviously moving through on passage. Also noted reed, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat and hirundines.
A Weasel was hunting in the fly tipping waste by the ramp.
Above a video of one of the summer plumaged Curlew Sandpipers.
