04.09.14. Starlings, Marsh Farm, Frodsham Marsh. Bill Morton

With the warm daytime temperatures getting a little hot within the amphitheatre of Frodsham Marsh. It was little wonder shorebirds were keeping close to the cooler elements of the river. However, 3 Greenshank were still present and could be found by the secluded pool on No.6 tank.

During the evening c700 Black-tailed Godwit gathered by the Weaver Sluice Gates with hundreds of Common Shelduck out on the mudflats.

A Kingfisher was at the reedy pool close to Marsh Farm and there was a pre-roost congregation of Starlings were rising and falling in a mixed adult and brown-headed juvenile flock. A Yellow Wagtail flew over calling and Swallows were in much reduced numbers.
