The WeBS count was quiet but very enjoyable as always. Although, regarding the Lesser Scaup, I must say trying to photograph a greyish bird, on greyish water on a greyish day had its challenges, so there is a bit of artistic license in some of the shots..

15.06.14 Red-necked Grebe, Frodsham Marsh. Heather W
56 Common Shelduck (adults and 20 chicks), 42 Mallard, 3 Grey Heron (one eating an Eel), 2 Pochard, Lesser Scaup (No.6 tank), 72 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Avocet, a single Ringed Plover, 500 Black Tailed Godwit (circling Weaver Bend & No.6 but didn’t settle), 10 Moorhen, 5 Lapwing, Red-necked Grebe (seen on River Weaver) and Coot 2.

In addition to the above, and extras for the Froddie Blog we also saw the following:

3 Raven over No.3 tank. An aerial combat involving 5 Buzzard over No.6 tank,
Whitethroats singing from every direction, a small charms of Goldfinch overhead in regular bursts, 27 Swift feeding over No.6 tank. Also there along the banks was a locally rare (this year) Cuckoo which did a fly by along the inside edge of the tank from the Lesser Scaup viewing area.

It was also great to see lots of new faces who were visiting the two celebrities.

15.06.14. Bee Orchid, Frodsham Marsh. Frank DuffA good year for Southern Marsh Orchid everywhere in NW Cheshire including the marsh where some Bee Orchids were to be found.
