An evening stroll along the banks of No.5 above No.6 tank was rewarded with some fine views of a splendid male Marsh Harrier quartering the golden reed beds down below. Ducks were restricted by a handful of Tufties and Common Shelduck and a Water Rail was heard.
A gathering of 370 Lesser Black-backed Gull (mostly adults) with Herring Gulls along the gantry wall opposite Christchurch at Weston Point was an interesting assembly.
Down on the river was a flock of Black-tailed Godwit watched over by a male Peregrine sat above on the blue-topped chimney.
43 Sand Martin in a tight flock were heading into the south-westerly wind.
Wildlife Crime: It is worth noting that a vehicle was seen with men carrying guns on/by No.4 tank, unfortunately by the time I followed this report up they had moved on. If you do suspect activities which may cause you concern take a note of the vehicle reg/type/colour and report to the police.
