A mornings ramble around the marsh resulted in a fine selection from the Spring Collection. 2 Common Sandpiper, a dozen Wheatear on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal near to the Ince berth. The 2 Black Swan flew along the canal and off over to the Score. Up to 18 Raven in the air together and many more seen near to No.6 tank. The male Marsh Harrier was showing off and a pair of Black-tailed Godwit were on the small pool on No.6. Whitethroat, Sedge Warbler and Chiffchaff were all singing on the banks of 6 Lordship Lane held more of the same with the addition of several Grasshopper Warbler. Two more Wheatear and a pair of female Yellow Wagtail sitting on a fence there. Good numbers of Swallow in the area with patrolling Buzzard and hovering Kestrel a marauding Sparrowhawk were all seen on my walk.

Then went for bit of a damp walk…Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaff singing away at ramp, start of path between No.6 and No.5 tank. 4 Golden Glover also on No.5 tank with 22 Wheatear counted there. Along the track along the southern edge of No.5 tank a ‘reeling’ Grasshopper Warbler, also Sedge Warbler and more Common Whitethroat, The male Marsh Harrier hunting over reed bed at No.6 tank. Loads of Swallow whizzing through.
