Today’s tide on the river was again high enough to force the Mersey waders to settle on No. 6 tank. With the poor light behind us we settled on the southern banks and watched the birds come in. They included 200 cGrey, 70 Golden and a single Ringed Plover,1000 Lapwing, c100 Knot, c164 Curlew, 25 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Redshank, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit and a solitary Sanderling.
With all these waders it was no surprise that raptors were paying attention so a Merlin and the 1cy Marsh Harrier were nearby.
