06.10.13. Sunrise over Frodsham Hill. Paul Crawley. I went early to see if the Pink-footed Geese were about after flighting over last night but no joy. Rick and his Dad Pete Nicholls were also down on the marsh (Pete has been off the road due to illness). No 6 held 3 Curlew Sandpiper and Black-tailed Godwit, Brook Furlong had a Great Spotted Woodpecker (female) and Sparrowhawk with prey.

Managing a couple of hours up to sunset along the banks of No 6 tank and notching up 47 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochard, 6 Shoveler, female Ruddy Duck, 340 Common Teal and 4 Pintail. 2 Ruff were finding the thick sticky mud hard going as they waded through it. A massive Raven dwarfed the female Marsh Harrier while she was quartering the banks of No 4 tank and a Kestrel was watched devouring a Vole.
