54 Tufted Duck, 2 drake Pochard, 4 Pintail, 7 Shoveler and 500 Common Teal were sharing No 6 tank with several hundred pre-roosting/bathing Black-headed Gulls. Also skulking around in the reeds were a couple of quarreling Water Rail and a Green Sandpiper was noted.
A Common Buzzard (pictured) watched all this with a steely eye.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard and a Chiffchaff along with Blackcap and Reed Warbler were spotted along No six tank, while a Cettl’s Warbler was rattling away at a private site. The pipe line on No tank continued to hold a Wheatear.
Also noted were 200+ Pink-footed Goose over Godscroft Lane heading over the marsh in various sized flocks from 10 to 100 at 18:35 (PC).
A machine bore hole drilling on No 5 tank for the wind turbines due next year?
