06.08.13 Nature Notes # 25
I’ve been waiting for this event for a while but tonight the first Spindle Ermine Moths emerged with several hundred feeding on the Burdock flower heads. Over the next few weeks I’m pretty sure that their numbers will expand and reached several thousand. Also present were several Mother of Pearl moths (pictured) and thanks for the identification Mr Broome.
I’m sure there’s more to write about these small but abundant critters.
A short video of the first emerging Spindle Ermines feeding on the burdock flowers.
