A couple of old WW2 planes a Spitfire and Hurricane fly over Frodsham Marsh today en route to The Battle of the Atlantic celebrations at Liverpool this week. Images by Paul Crawley.

Below two new adversaries battle it out over the marsh in the form of Common Buzzard and Marsh Harrier.

A rare Tree Sparrow was at Marsh Farm with some extremely obliging Sand Martin, Swallow, Meadow Pipit and Pied Wagtail.

25.05.13. Spotted Flycatcher, No 5 tank,  Frodsham Marsh. Paul Crawley

Brook Furlong scored a Spotted Flycatcher in the Sycamore and Hawthorn trees by the old bird log.

Frodsham Score and the Weaver Sluices had 6 Great Crested Grebe with a pair displaying there. 30 Dunlin, 45 Oystercatcher and 150 Curlew. A Peregrine was devouring a gull it had caught on the river at the top of the blue-topped chimney and 4 Raven were on the Score.

No 6 tank: 2 Avocet, male Marsh Harrier and 30 Dunlin.

25.05.13. Green-veined White Butterfly, Ince Marshes. Stuart Maddocks.

The warm temperatures brought out a plethora of Butterflies with Orange-tip, Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Small White and Green-veined White being present.

Weaver Bend: 30 Canada Goose, 6 Mallard, 60 Common Shelduck, 80 Tufted Duck, 2 Avocet, Cuckoo on fence post, 10 Reed Bunting, Spotted Flycatcher in trees to right of path at base of No 1 tank and 2 Reed Warbler.
