Both Arthur Harrison and Paul Crawley had between them 25 Wheatear and a couple of Whinchat at the marsh today and Paul managed this image above of a singing Sedge Warbler along the track of Lordship Lane.
An evening walk around No 6 tank produced some fine spring birds most notably a male Marsh Harrier, adult Whooper Swan and a very vocal Greenshank. A Grasshopper Warbler singing from Sea Buckthorn shrubs by the approach ramp to No 4 tank from Lordship Lane. The Whooper was with 21 Mute’s in fields west of Lordship Marsh. 9 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Snipe, 2 Redshank and a very showy Greenshank fell out of an azure sky to join the godwits for an evening spruce up before settling down for the night and the sound of its calls faded away as I walked back and headed home.
Also present were 24 Tufted Duck, a pair of Gadwall, 8 Cormorant, 12 Common Teal and smaller numbers of Raven.
