2 Whinchat by Marsh Farm, 7 Wheatear near Lordship Lane, 9 Black-tailed Godwit on No 6 tank, the odd Wheatear all over the marsh.

An evening watch in fine sunshine with good birding company was what was needed after the poor (previous) weekend weather.

The assembled group watched a male Marsh Harrier hunting the reed bed on No 6 tank.

Also present until the sun slowly dropped below the Liverpool skyline was a record roosting flock of 55 Whimbrel.

A beautiful summer plumaged Golden Plover (northern form) and a pair of Redshank joined a solitary Black-tailed Godwit on the shallow pool on No 6 tank.
The Blue-topped power station chimney at Weston Point gave a respite for the female Peregrine and a convenient preening lookout point

An impressive 108 Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 7 Mallard,12 Common Teal and an interesting Athya duck (above image) with the Tufties, any suggestions? I’ll post another image tomorrow evening.
The hybrid (insert a bit of Cape and Common Shelduck for good measure) Ruddy Shelduck pair were again in the ploughed field by the ramp to No 6 tank and later they roosted on No 6.
