Article on Channel Wagtail

Thanks to Mark Payne for this link and, to the author of the article…It’s always worth breathing new life into stuff like this. I’ve learned loads and, it’s made me blow dust off some old note books. Like the ‘beema’ wannabe at Frodsham some years ago. Thanks to Paul C, Frank D and Mark P for sharing the bird.

An evening circumnavigating No 6 tank was a great chillout zone with nothing to interupt me, except for a welcome text from Paul Crawley who was photographing this stunning image of a perched Short-eared Owl. One of two present during this evening. Paul’s one to watch with is photographing skills improving all the time.
Birds seen en route were; 42 Dunlin, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, Avocets. 6 Grasshopper Warbler including a really confiding individual watched down to 3 metres. Channel Wagtail perched on and around the small rubble pile west of the model aircraft flying area (look out for an old shipping container in the mowed area). One Short-earded Owl. scruffy looking Marsh Harrier flying out to the Frodsham Score.
